Are 2022 MacBook ports USB 3.1 Gen 2.2 ?

Can the new 2021 MacBook Pro handle SSD drives that utilise USB3.1 Gen 2.2 to their full potential through the latest USB4 ports?

I have the Sandisk Extreme Pro which can read at 2000mb/s but until recently, the USB4 ports could only handle 1000mb/s due to only being Gen 2.1?

Thanks

Yes, it does...

Thunderbolt 4 (40Gb/s) > USB 4 > USB3.2 Gen 2.2 (20Gb/s) ...

"Backwards compatible"

p.s. - there is no "3.1" they changed the names again a while back... go figure...

However, do remember to get a high quality certified cable that supports the "20Gb/s or 40Gb/s." Nowadays, there are so many cables that say they "meet" the standard but they fall short due to cheap components... and then you get horrible speed results...

The ‘x2’ means that it uses 2 bus lanes each 10Gbps…

However, now that I look at it in detail:

https:https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201163

https:https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201163

and

https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201163

it all points out that it looks like Apple hasn’t implemented the ‘x2’ 20Gbps standard yet… and knowing that this has been out for a few years, they might not do it…

so it is all 40Gbps or 10Gbps… no in between…
