Screen Flickering at Boot - MacBook Pro 14
So, I just noticed this since this is my first reboot since I got it.
The screen flickers very weird when my Mac boots. Anyone else facing this?

Hello. I have a MacBook Pro 16 M1 Max and I have this issue too. Installing 12.3 did not help.
Has anyone tried to do a complete OS reinstall to fix it?
Turning off FileVault does fix the issue in the meantime.
OMG! Thank you for your sharing.
I turned off the FileVault and It works!! The screen flickering disappears. We hopefully they released the new fixed this issue. Ultimately,The root of cause has been identified. :)
I have the M1 PRO 16inch. Turning off Filevault fixed my screen flicker after login. Thanks for the tip. Hope Apple fixes this soon though as I'd rather not be running with Filevault turned off. I still have a screen flicker when I turn the computer off though. Anyone else have this?
I have the same issue went to the store and they told me that it would be foxed in macOS 12.4
Hello,
Im experiencing the same(Macbook Pro 14" Base Model), whenever I sign in, the screen flickers back and forth, then once logged in, it continues working without any issues.
Its still annoying though. Resetting the SMC as hinted below didnt do much for me, as the issue still persists.
Hi guys!
I just got a Macbook M1 Pro and I was worried that it came with a factory fault because I have the same issue.
Just updated it to Monterrey 12.4 and still happens :( Do you still have the flicker after the update?
Thank you in advance! Have a nice day!
July 7th, just bought a new MBP 14 M1 and the issue is still happening! Thanks for spotting the issue, I was wondering if my new laptop was defective and this comforted me.
Hoping Apple would solve this in the next iteration of macOS
Have similar issue as well and going back and forth between the tele-technical support by Apple (nothing resolve), and went down to Apple store. First the staff said might be a software issue and ask for me to wait for the next OS update. After I left, called and informed me to try turning off the FileVault under System Preferences. It works, no more flickering at boot.
Yes, the SMC and NVRAM reset are for Intel macs…
For M1 the reset happens automatically when you completely shutdown your MBP , unplug everything and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. Then you power it back on…
when does the beach ball show up? Could you explain in detail please…
have you tried running a ‘First Aid’ cycle on it?

(select your drive and click on first aid…)

I would also try a first aid just in case:

(select your drive and click on first aid, restart the Mac...)
Updated my MacBook to macOS 12.2. The issue still persists! How do we get their attention?
Any updates? Same thing happened to my laptop
I also faced a similar issue after waking up Mac from sleep after a long time
