Screen Flickering at Boot - MacBook Pro 14
So, I just noticed this since this is my first reboot since I got it.
The screen flickers very weird when my Mac boots. Anyone else facing this?

Hii
I have tried the option to reset the SMC (System Management Controller) and it solved the issue for me.
just simply shut down your laptop and make sure the power cable is connected, then hold the buttons (Control, Option, Shift) for 7 seconds then hold the power button until you see the login page.
I hope it will solve your issue too.
Hello,
Im experiencing the same(Macbook Pro 14" Base Model), whenever I sign in, the screen flickers back and forth, then once logged in, it continues working without any issues.
Its still annoying though. Resetting the SMC as hinted below didnt do much for me, as the issue still persists.
same here. the screen went black for a second after entering the passcode then came back looking all fine throughout. tried resetting whatever can be reset and also first aid as guided by Apple Support problem still there.
will be going to Genius Bar tomorrow to let them technicians take a look hopefully they are able to determine the issue.
Hi Sonicray,
I faced this issue as well. I've just bought new M1 PRO 16" a few days ago and updated 12.0.1 Monterey.
When my Mac boots, I was typing password then press button it goes black(Screen Flickering) then start normally.
There's no any issue while using my Mac. The solutions what you provided I think that uses for Intel.
Do you know is this a bug or issue? Please share us if you figure out the root causes or how to reset both SMC and NVRAM for M1. Many Thanks
Yes Sonicray, I’ve tried everything as following you mentioned contains run first aid, take it rests a long time, checking Hardware issue and so on nothing found. Probably it’s a bug of 12.0.1 like Ibrahim_99 said. Are there any cases you notice? Did someone inform Apple developer team to examine? You know
Hi guys!
I just got a Macbook M1 Pro and I was worried that it came with a factory fault because I have the same issue.
Just updated it to Monterrey 12.4 and still happens :( Do you still have the flicker after the update?
Thank you in advance! Have a nice day!
July 7th, just bought a new MBP 14 M1 and the issue is still happening! Thanks for spotting the issue, I was wondering if my new laptop was defective and this comforted me.
Hoping Apple would solve this in the next iteration of macOS
I have the same issue, after i insert my password it goes black then start normally.
I dont know if this normal or not!!!
Btw, you have to reset both SMC and NVRAM…
If someone is able to report to them, that'll be great
Thank you for the updates.
If you found something wrong after went Genius Bar please keep us to posted. I guess in part of H/W should be fine.
Just tried this and OMG it finally stopped flickering
Just updated to macOS 12.1. Still the same flickering (turned back FileVault on to check) happens. How do we bring this issue to their attention in order to get a fix in the next iteration?
I updated the MacBook to macOS 12.1 yet no fix for this issue so far. Any idea how to bring it to their Apple's attention to get it fixed in the next iteration?
Updated my MacBook to macOS 12.2. The issue still persists! How do we get their attention?
Any updates? Same thing happened to my laptop
