Crushed screen at the hinge of a Macbook Pro

There must have been something hard stuck in the hinge of my Macbook when it was closed, as the screen was crushed in that small portion. My question is, is there a reason to NOT put a small amount of UV resin over the broken bit, to preven further damage? The only reason I can think of is if there are components under the crack that may be damaged by moisture, however the resin sets in 5 minutes and would be tacky very quickly. The computer is only a year old.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

The orange you see is one of many very fragile & delicate flex cables. I would avoid having anything stick to those cables. Normally I would suggest cutting a piece of black electrical tape to fit, but the severity of the damage prohibits it since those shards may end up puncturing the flex cable.

I have replaced just the damaged Bezel on these laptops, but it requires some experience with dealing with Apple adhesives to remove it without damaging the multiple flex cables or other parts of the laptop. I don't recommend a regular user doing this, but perhaps a tech with lots of Apple experience (especially iPads) would be able to do it.

Otherwise Apple charges a lot to replace the Display Assembly.

Perhaps this is a Faulty Device?:

Note that you have a one-year, out-of-the-box, limited-warranty with this. So, if it is covered under warranty, then see if you can get the screen replaced. Being faulty, it likely would be nothing on you. Ask Apple Support for a new screen.

NOTE: Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, calls are taking a bit linger to get through. And, that makes sense, because many are at home working out-of-the-house or are taking classes over-the-web, this they have more time on their hands to contact Apple Support. So, it might take a bit to get through to Apple Support. But, just stay on the line, and someone will be with you :)
