FaceTime - Waiting for others

Since updating to iOS 15, I've been having issues with the new FaceTime app. We've had multiple Apple devices and have never experienced any issues but now all of them are hit or miss if I want to make FaceTime call, regardless if it's video or audio.

When I try to place a call it just states "waiting for others" but it does not ring or performs any action. The intended receiver doesn't receives any notifications of a call and it just remains in this frustrating limbo for an eternity, until I cancel thee call or it just drops by itself. I've tried multiple methods and it just lingers there. Then, all of a sudden, I "dial" and it goes through.

Note: I'm not attempting to make calls to Android devices but other Apple devices within my same network/account.

TIA

Hello Lindsay B, I've read your response to pedrone03 and I've tried everything in the article "If you can't make a FaceTime call..." all to no avail. The only time it worked was when I switched the phone back on and it worked once. This applies to the iPad and the iPhone, both on iOS 15.1. It is, in fact, since this upgrade that this problem has occurred. No settings have been altered from the previous version of iOS. FaceTime works fine from my Mac. Are there any other solutions, that aren't too complicated?

I too have the same issue. Though, I can call my wife’s iPhone and she can call me on either device, iPad (MUY82LL/A) and iPhone (MQCP2LL/A). I have used the iPad as a watchdog to monitor a lighting circuit I’d like to de-energize for working safely. I FaceTime myself, point the iPad at the lights, go to the breaker panel and see when I turn off the breaker controlling that circuit. Used to work great. Since the update, I get “Waiting of others,” and nothing happens when calling myself from either device.

Thanks, but nope, that didn’t work for my units… bummer. I was successful in restarting the units until the Apple logo appeared. I started with the iPad and it acted as if it was calling, but after about 30 seconds, the screen changed to the waiting for others. The iPhone never did recognize a call. Going the other way, the iPhone continues to offer only the screen to wait for others when calling the iPad. I’m pretty sure I’m doing nothing different than 3 months ago when this routine did function as expected. Both units have software version15.2.
