1008F on MBK 2018, I tried everthing :(

I upgraded from BigSur to Montery, and for a reason I created a USB installer, changed settings for T2, booted to recovery, erased the disc and tried to reinstall. and nothing worked !

I got stuck in a boot fail limbo, tried everything solution, reset SMS, PRAM,

Option + Command + R,

Shift +Option R,

Option R,

Option,

Shift and boot from USB Montery installer

Tried revive app ( from older macbookair) altho I am not sure of the cable(s) if Apple certified never the less I was able to lunch the operation ( revive or erase) but i got fail message at the end.

I called Apple today, spoke to a person and "senior" advisor who noticed I tried everything and finally said I probably need to send it for hardware check up and take it from there.

I am pretty sure the hardware is ok and its a glitch somewhere. I dont feel paying the 100 buck to hear it. I mean what hardware could be broke from my problem description, also if it was that, there should be a very defined syndrome for it

whenever I (re) try to install or recovery mode : i get the globe turning and turning before i get the 1008F error message. Tried connection to wifii and today i bought certified Apple ethernet adapter, still no luck.

Anyone could advice ?

Also, what about booting to terminal before safe mode and do the job from there, after all should be "just a UNIX" ?

Would it be possible to work out a virtual machine ( no apple hardware ) and try connect to my macbook from there ?

( did i Mention cant get to safe mode recovery ?)

To perform this action will require booting from a Bootable Installer.

This will have to be performed from a Qualifying Computer to run the version of macOS to be made on the Bootable Installer. Example : Bootable Installer of Big Sur would have to be done on a computer that Qualifies to run Big Sur.

Once that is done read on for preparing the Destination computer >> Only works on Intel Based Apple Computers.

Extra Special Notation regarding the Touch ID equipped Apple Computer. >>>About Startup Security Utility and Must Enable from Recovery Mode the ability to boot from External Drive Before Attempting

1 - Shutdown computer and disconnect all external drive Except the newly created Bootable Installer.

2- Restart and immediately hold the OPTION key until the Startup Manager appears and choose the USB Drive.

3 - It will present options >> Disk Utilities >> View >> View ALL attached Drives.

4 - Choose the Upper Most Drive ( not the volumes indented and list below ).

5 - The drive normally is called Apple Media or Apple SSD - that is the drive to Erase and format as APFS with the GUID Partition Map.

6 - Once that is done >> backup out of Disk Utilities and choose install macOS.

7 - Follow the prompts and it may automatically reboot several time.

8 - Upon a final reboot - Setup Assist will present with the newer version of macOS.
