Apple TV remote app

I have an iPhone 12 with iOS 15 and I have an Apple TV 4K. I purchased a new Apple TV 4K for my child’s room and when I set it up with his login, I used my phone to do it. The Apple TV remote app has been discontinued by apple and I frequently used the now integrated remote on my phone. The problem is when I open the app it always asks me what tv I want to connect to. I can’t seem to find a way to delete my child’s Apple TV from the integrated remote. It does not show up in my device list in airplay or anywhere else. I’ve gone into my child’s Apple TV and removed my phone from its pairing but it still shows up on my phone. I even reset my child’s Apple TV to factory settings and then set it up again using his phone but when I open the integrated remote on my phone, my child’s Apple TV is still listed. Is there a way to remove my child’s Apple TV from this list or at least set my Apple TV as the default so it’s not asking me what tv I want to connect to every time I open the integrated remote?

From the details you provided so far, this is expected behavior. You mentioned that both Apple TV devices show when using the built-in remote feature on your iPhone 12, but this is expected as it'll list all Apple TV devices available to use.

So what you’re telling me is if I have 5 Apple TV’s in my household that ever time I use the built-in remote feature it will show me all 5 Apple TV’s and I have to pick the one I want EVERY TIME?! Is there A way to make one the “default” and the remote connect to that one automatically when opened? If I use the actual Apple TV remote it only connects the one. Why can’t I choose a “default” to connect to or the built-in remote automatically tell by signal strength which one is closest and automatically connect to that one?
