Try the Following:

Disable Cellular in Settings.

Go to: Settings
Tap: Cellular (so that its greyed-out)
Stay Connected to your Wifi network.

In settings, Wi-Fi shows a check mark that it is connected to the home wi-fi net work but in upper right hand corner of phone it shows it is connected to 5Ge. Stays connected to 5Ge when I disable Wi-Fi as well.

I re-booted router and reset network connections on phone in addition turning phone off and back on again.
