Mac OS Monterey abnormally long download time.

Mac OS Monterey says- 2 days for download, then stops after about a period with a "Installation Failed- An error occurred while installing the selected updates" message popping up. When I click download again, it continues from where it stopped and repeats the same process previously mentioned.

I'm wondering What is the problem? My updates always come through flawlessly, high speed wifi, and more than adequate free space; and in general have a very clean, spotless machine.

Does anyone else have this problem? is there a fix? and can anyone help me understand and resolve this issue? Thanks much in advance if possible

-(for now I'm continuing the intermittent method mentioned earlier, although it will take forever.)

There are factors:

1 - Like poor Wifi connection

2 - Slow wifi connection

3 - Too many other people downloading at the same time and Apple Severs are overloaded

4 - Software on the computer interfering with the download process including AntiVirus Software

5 - Running behind a VPN which may increase Packet losses

6 - If via wifi too many Other devices using the wifi at the same time reducing the Bandwidth to your computer.

7 - Best Results are via Ethernet Cable to Router

Yes, that advice was provided, however despite shutting off all other devices and hiring professional service to clean everything that could possibly be interfering with the download it still stalled. Apple needs to find a better solution.

**HERE IS WHAT WORKED FOR ME***

Disconnect all externals & peripherals. Leave only your power connected.

Power your computer completely off by holding down power for about 20-25 seconds.

Press power and immediately hold down CMD-R to put your machine in recovery mode.

Run the Monterey reinstall.

PLEASE NOTE:

When I launched the reinstall, it told me 35 mins remaining, then it jumped to like 2hrs and 15 mins remaining, but the download finished in about 20 mins then moved on to install. Once the install stage hit, the time read 8 HOURS AND 45 MINS!!!!!!!! However, it quickly dwindled down to 6hrs then 5hrs then 2hrs…. then 30 mins.

Overall, it took about 2-3hrs to finally complete, while that is much better than 8hrs, it’s still quite extensive.

I thought I was seeing things, when after about an hour on 2/24/2022, it said I still had 1 day remaining for the download. Incredible. NEVER had that happen before, but I do not have the patience to wait 1 daytime for just the download. Makes me wonder how long the installation would take....

Having the same problem too. New computer, tested internet speed of 135Mbps on same computer. Downloading at a rate of 600KBps!

FYI - it took my M1 Mac Mini on Monterey 12.0.1 - 45 minutes to download the FULL Version of Monterey 12.1 file size 12.17 GB over Wifi

Patience and more patience are required.

Not normal at all.

Have downloaded the Full Version of Monterey 12.1 - approx. 12.17 GB over Wifi with a 50 MB/Sec download speed and took about 40 minutes start to 100% downloaded.

Update. I downloaded Monterey from the app store, it was slow and I needed to do it twice (first time it finished but stuck there). And just reinstall it.

Well my farking M1 Mac Mini is going on my junk computer shelf until this issue is solved. Meantime, I'm using my 2009 iMac 27 for everything till Apple gets its shoot together.
