why is the screen on my macbook pro dimming

This past Saturday, I noticed the Screen on my MacBook Pro 13 inch was dark when I turned the power. Then it automatically lightened back up.

Yesterday, Sunday it happened again. I did the Control Option and other techniques to help. The screen is brighter but I have no control, in that, the F2 & F1 buttons does not work.

Also, whenever I open up an Application, the bottom of the screen is weird. Every other light is on or off.
