New iPhone not recognized by car via USB

I have this same problem as well. It is very frustrating apple said the new iPhone can sometimes malfunction and this can happen i have already gotten a new phone and within one week of playing music it stopped again and only charged.

I can’t believe that Apple Support thinks that copy pasting the same “solution “ from the last 6 years of users having the same problem is a legitimate response to this.

I am having the same issue with my iPhone 13 Pro.

Was working fine with my car over USB until I installed the 15.1 update, at which point it will charge but no longer connect for music.

Currently running 15.1.1, same issue. Tried multiple cables, adjusting the EQ setting, etc. to no avail.

Same exact problem. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and drive a 2012 Chevy Cruze.

I have never had an issue playing music or podcasts through my USB cable in my car. My iPhone updated to iOS 15.1.1 last night and just like flipping a switch, it no longer is recognized by my car and won’t play any music or podcasts.

Oh yeah, and for bonus points I JUST bought a new lightning cable for my car a week ago. this is EXTREMELY frustrating.

I can confirm 100% this is a iOS 15 issue. I have a iPhone Xs with 14.2 and it plays in my 14 Cruze and in my truck on my old Alpine CDA-117 using an Apple USB cable. My iPhone 12 Pro Max will not work in either vehicle and did work prior to updating to iOS 15.

I believe I’m on my tenth restart (both phone and cars)- my partner’s 12 pro on the the same OS (15.2) works fine. Apple had me do a hard restart and reset all my settings, among a number of other things, all to no avail. I’m starting to wonder if it’s a hardware issue- my warranty runs out in mid February, maybe I should take it back in and have them run full diagnostics and/or demand a new replacement.

I just tested the following since my earlier post:

My iPhone 13 pro on iOS 15.5 - didn't work

My Wife's iPhone 13 pro max on iOS 15.5 - worked

My son's iPhone 13 pro max on 15.4 - worked

My iPhone Xr on 13.1 worked

Why does my wife's iPhone 13 pro max work on 1.5.5 but my iPhone 13 pro on the same 15.5 version doesn't work??

Update!!! Yesterday afternoon, on a whim, I retried the USB connection from iP 13pro, and we were back online. The 2013 Toyota entertainment system could call up iTunes and select music.

We suspect software was returned to previous code or a realization that driver safety is endangered when the iOS is prioritized.

I had the same problem after the 15.5 update. I replaced the Toyota USB port in my dashboard thinking that it was the issue. At the time, the new plug made no difference.

After grudgingly using Bluetooth (despise its low audio quality) for 3-4 weeks, one day, I plugged in the iPhone to the USB connection… and it worked.

Was there a ground problem with the plug? A dirty lightning plug (I had cleaned them earlier…)? I don’t know,

My best guess is that Apple corrected the issue behind the scenes. The operating system surely runs the show. 😉

I have the same issue with my iPhone 11. I'm unable to play any audio via USB right after I updated my iOS. This problem has persisted for months. My phone is updated to most recent 15.3.1.

I have a 2016 Cruze and this new update has ruined my ability to connect via usb to play my music anymore. To think that this is another update that is still not fixed is absurd. It worked fine before this update. This seems like another apple scam like making your batteries die fast so you would buy a new phone. Is it apple or will you fix this? I have an apple 12. This is a racket.

I have the same issue in my 2012 Hyandai genesis. Was working fine before I got my iPhone 13 pro. Now it doesn’t work and I’ve tried multiple Cables, multiple cigarette outlets, upgraded to latest IOS version but no go. Very frustrating.

I am having the same problem. Replaced cables and did not work. Called to have my ports checked if needed. No they are good. Daughter-in-law phone works phone. Just my iPhone not working. It started after last software upgrade. I am at a loss
