"you shut down your computer because of problem"

I upgraded to Monterey about a week ago. Every time I shut down my mac air 2015 and restart it again I get the message "You shut down your computer because of a problem". I had no problems. I just shut it down normally. Why do I keep getting this message?

MacBook Air 11″, macOS 12.0

In order to get rid of this message, we will delete a log file using Finder.

  1. Open Finder on your Mac. Use Command-Space Bar to open Spotlight, then type Finder.
  2. From the menu bar at the top, click on Go, then select Go to Folder.
  3. Type “/Library” and hit Return.
  4. Find and double-click on the Logs folder to open it.
  5. Double-click on DiagnosticReports.
  6. Go to the search (magnifying glass, top-right corner of the window) and type “sleep”.
  7. From the results, look for a recent file named Sleep Wake Failure…
  8. Right-click (Control-click) on the file, then select Move to Trash.
  9. Shutdown your Mac (Apple  menu > Shutdown).
  10. Wait 30 seconds, then press the power button to turn on your Mac. The message should not appear anymore when you log in.

Thanks ShHZh for posting the solution you found at reddit. I had booked a Genius Bar appointment for tomorrow having spent hours reinstalling Monterey, resetting NVRAM & SMC and running first aid on the Disc Utility. Your solution worked immediately and I've now cancelled that unnecessary appointment (which was recommended by the Apple support guy I was chatting to online). Clearly some questions here for Apple re Monterey OS and updating the information held by there support staff.

I have same problem, everytime I shut down my computer, since I updated my computer to Monterey 12.1, what is the difference as to what I do with my computer to Apple..? I bought it, paid for it, because of it's positive reliable computer, as per a survey done with the public. I alway's trust Mac Computers Before any thing else on market, they protect every virus from entering, where paying for one is a waste of money. I bought Malwarebytes ( as per Apple reviews ), and paid over $200.00 u.s., for 2 years, and every 12 hour, does it scan, takes 39 seconds, and no virus found, I will alway's buy Apple Computers for as long as I live, and with no regrets. But I fail to understand as why Apple, sends me this comment " You shut down your computer because of a problem..? ), no I did not have a problem, these days every thing on internet is not trustworthy, like all sites, track you down like if I was a criminal, 90% of all sites I go on, Safari Blocks them all, from following me. Am I paranoid, no, just playing a safe game with them, especially card game called 247spades.com, where their partners are Google, Amazon and one other. Play a few games, and you will notice, computer robots, on left, top and right side, always have all high spade cards, and you get all lowest spade cards, what bothered me the most, is it happen once, Ace of spades was used twice in one game, and screen magnify itself to 500%, and, No browsers, either Safari, Firefox, Opera or Google, can block them. So yes I feel 100% safe using Apple Computers.
