I recently bought a magic keyboard with touch id. It is connected via bluetooth to my macbook pro. However, the touch id is not working. I have made sure that ios is up to date, restarted the computer and keyboard several times. The touch id on the keyboard on my laptop does work but not the touch id on the new magic keyboard. Any ideas what to try?

Thank you for your reply! The laptop lid is open and the Touch ID is working on the laptop keyboard. The additional magic keyboard I have connected works for typing and everything other than the Touch ID.
Still not working for me. It stopped working after the latest update for Big Sur so I updated to Monterey to no avail.
