how to stop MacBook Pro charging

Hi, my MacBook Pro 2020 with desktop setup keeps charging even at 100% with Asus external display via usb c. The continuous power delivery has become a nuisance to my macbook battery life and I found usb c is the only way to connect between two devices while the MacBook Pro with closed display. What are the possibilities to stop charging when external display is connected via usb c and when MacBook is closed?

MacBook Pro is completely in control of when it charges and when it does not charge.

A power supply cannot "force itself" on your computer. Your computer uses "smart charging", and only accepts any provided charging power when needed.

If yours is registering 100 percent charged, then no charging is needed right now, so no charging power will be accepted from the display (or from the power adapter if you connected the power adapter). But it may choose to accept RUN power from the display instead of running only on battery power alone.
