Apple watch fall detection never works

Is just me or the fall detection never works. I tried at work, I work in rope access, I tried at home falling in a couch and mattress and it doesn’t work.

So I bought the watch mostly for this spec and I feel that it is a scam.

Have you updated to watchOS 8.1?

You should if you haven't updated.

To troubleshot, try reboot your Watch by pressing the Digital Crown and the Side button together until you see the  logo.

Falling on a mattress or couch is not going to register on your watch. It only registers hard impacts, like hitting the hardwood floor, dirt patch, etc. I'd fallen on my bed and no register. However, out on a hike recently, I took a very hard fall, taking my breath awayl and it began to call emergency services. Also, if you move within a 1 minute, it won't register either.
