My superdrive is not recognized by Mac Pro. What do I need to do ?

I haven't used it in a while... what should I do ?

The drive itself (with no disc inserted) will not be shown on the desktop -- only Mounted volumes are shown there (drive with readable, Mounted Disc inserted).


The Apple USB superdrive requires 900 MilliAmps power. That is more than a typical USB port can provide.


 menu > About this Mac > (System report) > USB ...


will show you the Bid and Asked power


 menu > About this Mac > (System report) > Disc Burning ...


... will provide details about the drive's capabilities.
