Getting worse on my MacPro (late 2103)

It's just getting slower & beach balling like crazy then comes back to life for a minute or two. Cleared the cache with no such luck. Mostly in FCP X but in other programs as well. I really don't have much faith in Apple Support since the supervisor had never heard of Etre Check. Report below. Something new says there might be a hardware problem as opposed to previous reports.

Mac Pro, macOS 11.6

Major Issues:

Anything that appears on this list needs immediate attention.

Kernel panics - This system has experienced kernel panics. This could be a sign of hardware failure.

This can be a cause for concern.

System Extensions:

[Not Loaded] SymantecEndpointSecurity - version 9.0.5 (Symantec - 2021-08-07)

Application: /Volumes/M*****k/A**********s/Norton Internet Security.app - version 9.0.9 (Symantec - 2021-08-07)

Description: [placeholder]Symantec Endpoint Security system extension[placeholder]

This is ****. Uninstall all symantec "security" stuff.

Effective defenses against malware and other threats

Kernel Extensions:

/Applications/Toast 17 Titanium/Live Screen Capture.app

[Not Loaded] Soundflower.kext - com.Cycling74.driver.Soundflower (1.6.7 - SDK 10.7)

/Applications/iSkysoft iMedia Converter Deluxe.app

[Not Loaded] SystemAudioRecorder.kext - com.Perfect.Driver.SystemAudioRecorder (1.1.0 - SDK 10.6)

These and others are very old system extensions, dating back from even the Snow Leopard era.

You should try removing unnecessary external drives, and installing a clean system on a separate drive (very preferably an SSD, otherwise booting will be sloooooooooow). I expect that running from a clean system will work fine.

Ultimately, after establishing the benefits of a clean system, you may want to make sure to have full backups, and then erase and install on the internal. After that, do not migrate applications, settings, or other files; only the user accounts.

So I did a lot of what was suggested but still no luck. In fact, using the activity monitor FCP X was, at times, using more than 400% of my CPU. I decided to migrate my editing over to my MacBook Pro. Same thing happened. It turns out one of my video files was corrupted. Even though it opened in QuickTime player it couldn’t be opened in Topaz video AI nor could it be processed & stored on my Google drive. It was directly captured from video tape playback on the camera yet apparently something went wrong. Plan A is to try that again & plan B is to run it thru my trusty, yet old, Sony A-D converter. I do have a plan C if it comes to that. And I’ll also keep cleaning my computer files up. Thanks for your suggestions.

It looks like you have a bunch of drives connected. Possible to remove them to see if one of them might be failing and causing the kernel panic?

Also, you have Chrome and its keystone daemons installed. Bad joojoo for pro apps. Search here for other people's woes and follow https://chromeisbad.com for instructions on how to completely remove the app and the daemons. Simply trashing the app is not enough.

Are all the Gimbal and LoupeDeck interfaces needed? Not sure why there would be so many.

Thanks, I’ll try that when I get back on the computer. The Loupedeck I use with Final Cut Pro, I’ll ask them about that. Not sure about the gimbal as I have a Karma & some other off brand one. I’m not even sure if gopro updates that anymore. I’ll let you know. Now, if I could only figure out why safari on my iPad won’t let me post a response & I have to use Firefox.

Yes, everything is working normally in the libraries just not that project. I re-downloaded off the tape, then ran it thru Compressor (the codec I used doubled the file size- won’t do that next time); aside from a few hiccups I finished editing it. One hiccup completely locked the keyboard while I was checking an edit & until “watchdog” took over & restarted the computer, it was like watching a runaway train- I couldn’t do nothin’. Thanks for the help, I’ll just keep on cleaning junk files off my SSD.
