Can't play purchased music without Apple Music subscription

I want to listen to music I purchased on my iPad. I purchased a few albums yesterday. But when I try to listen to the songs that I've already paid money for it stops after a few seconds and tries to make me pay for a subscription service.

I've already tried going into my general settings and turning off the "Show Apple Music" toggle. That didn't solve the issue.

When I try to download the music onto my tablet I get an error saying I'm not allowed to because I haven't purchased a subscription.

This is unacceptable. I have already paid my money. I own this copy of the music. How can I play this music on my tablet without being forced to pay a monthly fee for a subscription service?

Greetings Kauren,

It’s understood that you’re encountering a message about subscribing to Apple Music when attempting to play or download music.

If you purchased this music through the iTunes Store outside of an Apple Music subscription and it is still available through the iTunes Store, you’re correct that you can continue to listen to it without a subscription. However, if it was added to your library while you had an Apple Music subscription and that subscription has expired, you will not be able to listen to that music any longer.

Let’s verify that you are seeing these albums appear in your purchase history - See your purchase history for the App Store, iTunes Store, and more. If so, we’d like to next have you sign out of your Apple lD for Media and Purchases in Settings > your name > Media & Purchases, restart your device and sign back in. This shouldn’t impact any data, though if you were an Apple Music subscriber it would remove any downloaded music.

Let us know if you can then download these purchases.

Kauren,

You've certainly done all the leg work for this situation and verified everything. Please reach out to the billing support for the iTunes Store, so they can confirm that the purchase for this album did not go through, as we don't want you to be billed twice if it's still asking you to purchase it and if the charge did go through, we absolutely want you to have access to it and in your library.

Click Billing & Subscriptions, then the next best topic here - Apple Get Support

Thank you.

Kauren,

Thank you so much for checking, that explains why you’re seeing the prompts for Apple Music. However, if you were charged for the album then we want to be sure you have it.

Did you already receive an emailed receipt for the purchases from 11/17? If so, does that album appear? If you haven’t received it or the album is not there, but you were still charged the amount for the album, we’re going to next recommend you reach out to Apple’s billing specialists for account related assistance.

You can connect with them by starting with Billing & Subscriptions from the following link - Apple Get Support.

Thanks.

It appears to be a halfway thing.

The album does not appear among the receipts with my other purchases, but it does appear in my list of music on my tablet. It's just that when I try to play anything, it only plays the 30 second demo. I should note that other music I purchased at the same time went through with no issues
