Macbook Pro - keychain issue, cannot add fingerprint ("authentication cancelled")

Why won't my fully updated 2020 MacBook allow me to add a fingerprint? The fingerprint function randomly stopped working months ago. When I click Add Fingerprint, I get an error message. Also, whenever I restart it, it also asks me to enter in my keychain password a dozen times for various plugins before I can do anything else. I think these glitches may be connected. I tried restarting and resetting PRAM and SMC and nothing is working. Hopefully someone can help! Thanks.

Hello guitarly_carly! Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you’re unable to add your fingerprint to Touch ID on your MacBook Pro. We'd like to look into this with you to see how we can help.

First, if you haven’t already, let’s update your Mac to macOS 12.0.1 to see if this has any effect: Update macOS on Mac

If the issue persists, let’s start up in safe mode to see if the issue persists. Safe mode will tell us if the issue is related to a startup item or plugins, and sometimes corrects the issue. Try adding a finger print while in safe mode. How to use safe mode on your Mac

Make it a great day!
