New iPhone 13 Pro arrived with damage to the screen

I received my new iPhone 13 Pro and didn't fire it up until my kids could put a screen protector on it. I'm 82 and need help with such things. They showed me that the phone's screen already had scratches on it and there was paint missing from the case as well. This was to be a NEW phone, not refurbished so I didn't do anything to get it up and running. Our son died 9/13/21 of Covid-19 and we had to go to California to attend his Memorial Services, etc. and now I need to know what to do about my DAMAGED new iPhone 13 Pro.
