2021 Macbook Pro 14" Windowserver high memory/cpu usage.

Hi,

I just got my new Macbook Pro with an M1 Pro CPU (16 GB RAM / Monterey) and currently as I'm writing this post, the Windowserver process needs 13,47 GB RAM. The only application is running is Firefox with 1 tab and Discord. Is this normal? I have to restart my notebook 2-3x a day to get it back to normal level. How can this problem be fixed? I hope Apple reacts since I spent 2400 EUR on this new notebook and it's completely useless after a few hours of usage.

Thanks

1 - No Time Machine backup - Time Machine backup not found.

Ans - A Time Machine Backup  is very useful and can be used to Revert to Previous Working macOS

2 - x86-only Apps - This computer has x86-only apps might not work on future versions of the operating system.

Ans - Although they may function by invoking Rosetta 2 - it might be worth the effort to explore newer Universal Application that do not required depending on Rosetta 2.

3 - /Applications/Bitwarden.app/Contents/Library/LoginItems/Bitwarden Login

Ans - https://bitwarden.com/download/ According to their website it support up to Mojave macOS 10.14 and no specific mention of Monterey Compatible.

4- TradingView, Inc.

Ans - Could not find any information specific to what version of macOS is supported.

Reading some more - there might be another issue causing your issue.

If one has changed the Default Curser to Red - there are reports that this may cause the issue being experienced.

If this is your case - suggest putting it back to the Default setting and then, Test if the " Windowserver " issue is resolved.

Sounds like two issues. WindowServer and a memory leak. We were having the WindowServer runaway CPU usage - took a lot of trial and error but for us getting all things Google off the computer (to include Keystone) helped a little WindowServer down into the 20-30% range from over 100%. In the end the more significant culprit was found to be Sophos Home. Removed Sophos and WindowServer is consistently back to single digits - also improved the Watt draw and temps of the laptop noticeably.
