External Monitor Image Frozen After Wake from Sleep (M1 Pro MacBook Pro)

I have a SAMSUNG LC49RG90SSNXZA 49-Inch CRG9 Curved Gaming Monitor connected to my 2021 14 inch M1 Pro MacBook Pro running Monterey (12.0.1). The monitor is connected via a USB-C to Display Port high bandwidth cable. When the monitor wakes from sleep, the image on the monitor is frozen. I need to open the laptop lid and close it again for the image on the monitor to become a “live” again. The monitor setting also resets to “variable” refresh rate instead of 120 Hz (which is what I set it to). The resolution remains at 5120 x 1440 (which is the resolution I set the monitor for). Anyone else experiencing this? Any fixes? All suggestions welcome.

Hey Voltar1286,

It appears that you are seeing a frozen image on your external monitor after your MacBook Pro or external monitor wakes from sleep, and the resolution to temporarily resolve the issue is to open and shut the MacBook Pro lid. Does this issue continue if you restart your MacBook Pro? Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac It may seem like a simple step, but it can sometimes help resolve issues.

Do you possibly have another external monitor to test to see if this issue happens there as well? This could help isolate the issue to either something going on with your MacBook Pro or the external monitor itself.

Take care.
