Why has my login failed for gmail on my Mac

I cannot access my gmail account on my Mac. It keeps saying login failed and I have tried so many times. Even by changing my password. I can access my gmail account through safari in gmail but not through the stamp picture of gmail on my Mac and it is so annoying. What can I do please?

Try completely removing the Google account from your Mac and then adding it again. It's quicker and easier than you might think:

  1. Click Apple menu > System Preferences.
  2. Click Internet Accounts.
  3. Select your Google account on the left.
  4. Click the Remove button — underneath, and confirm.
  5. Click the Add button + followed by the Google logo.
  6. Follow the steps to open your browser and authenticate with Google.

It may take a moment for Mail to begin downloading your messages.
