Hi,

I'd like to loop a certain section of a video in the timeline:

(i.e., looping the yellow section indefinetly.)

Would this be possible with iMovie?

thanks!

There is no feature in iMovie that will allow a loop of a certain section of the video in the timeline. The View/Loop Playback feature will loop the entire movie on playback, but the loop will not carry over into the final exported movie. Nor can it be applied to only one section of the timeline.

However, you can do a virtual loop by selecting and copying the section of the video and then Edit/Pasting it multiple times into the timeline. As the playhead moves through it will repeatedly play and replay the pasted segment as if it were looping it.

One technique would be it select the segment, Edit/Copy it it, and then Edit/Paste it into a newly created project for this purpose. Then in the new project, copy and paste the section multiple times to create your loop. Export it out to your desktop and import it into your original project. So, in other words, you would have long clip that loops, and you can paste it into your original project.
