PDFs not opening on new macbook air

Hi there,

I got a new MacBook Air recently, and find that I can't open PDFs. I have had a look in launchpad, and I do have Adobe Reader in there. I also tried re-downloading it in case there was some problem, but that didn't seem to make any difference.

When I click on a PDF, nothing at all happens. If I click on the Adobe icon in the dock, nothing happens. It's not bouncing and it doesn't say 'not responding' if I click on it.

The only things I've done since I got it are migrate everything over from my old MacBook, and update the OS to Monterey.

Any ideas???

Many thanks in advance!

Right click a pdf file, select Get Info and select what app you want to use. Your can also set the default here. Apple's built in app is Preview and it works pretty well.
