Essentially all calendars, google calendar to be specific, allow for vertical weekly views.
Having to go landscape to see the entire week is crazy, and limits what can be viewed without having to scroll up and down to see an entire day.
This oversight alone is why I still continue to use Google calendar on my iPhone. The iPhone calendar app is very cumbersome for no apparent reason.
There are a number of other calendar apps in the App Store. Some are free, others are not. I've seen a number of people rave about Fantastical. See if that meets your needs.
As an earlier poster provided, you can provide feedback to Apple more than once to get attention. The last two updates to the calendar which changed the way time was entered, and then it was changed back, sort of, by merging the original way and the new way, had to be partially because of the volumes of feedback they received after saying here to provide feedback. So it can't hurt if you are really interested in the change.

Yeah, I’ve done that a long time ago. There are practically zero updates to the Calendar over the past few years.
A surprising oversight when others continue to innovate and integrate features.
Not allowing vertical week view is one main reason why iPhone calendar doesn’t compare with any of the competition.
I use Google Calendar just fine, as it allows for vertical week view.
and it integrates reminders / tasks into the calendar as well.
two basic features that the iPhone calendar SHOULD have. But apparently the iPhone calendar is a neglected child.
would be nice to get an update on an integral part of the phone’s ecosystem. The calendar. Something I’m sure at least half of the users use on a daily basis.
