Finder tags dissapear with Box Drive

I have been using Box Drive in combination with Finder tags (on my macbook pro) for the last 4 years.

Since macOS Monterey these Finder tags disappear.

Box user support told me this is a MacOS issue.

Finder tags are extended attributes that travel with the file on Finder supported filesystems (including iCloud Drive). Placing a file with tags on Google Drive, MS Windows, Linux, or DropBox are surefire ways to strip the Finder tags, and it would appear one can add Box cloud services to that list now.

If you want to keep those tags, don't put them on Box, or other mentioned destinations.

You can send direct feedback to the macOS product team about this. Only way they will know — it if really is a macOS issue.

One option may be make a disk image on the Mac which you can then store on the Box Drive (and mount on the Mac). As mentioned, the Disk Image format must support extended attributes for Finder tags for this method to work. If I recall correctly, HFS+ (Mac extended) worked for storing custom finder icons which are also stored as extended attributes.
