My Apple Music is taking up a lot of storage (1.3GB), but my downloaded songs' total only 490MB (as shown under the iPhone Storage section). What is this extra 800MB storage being used for?

Yes it is. But it has always been enabled, and I got this massive storage usage only recently (last few months). I have even tried to delete the app and reinstall, but it still builds up this memory again.

Good question! I believe it’s analytical data. Is Listening History enabled?
Not what you’re looking for, but I wouldn’t worry about. 1.3G isn’t massive and Listening History and related analytics aren’t static. Maybe it’ll fix itself in the next release? All the best.
