Magic Trackpad draining faster than magic keyboard

Hello

I have a new iMac (2021 M1) but have noticed that the trackpad is draining much faster than the keyboard - looking online it seems that they should drain at a similar rate. I tried Apple chat and they agreed it should go down at a similar rate and asked that I pair the trackpad again. I've done this but it has not made a difference. The keyboard seems that it will last a month, but the trackpad only a couple of weeks - clearly the battery ok if lasting a couple of weeks, but the iMac and accessories are only a month old and I don't want the trackpad to get worse.

Are there any other things I should try or is it worth taking it back?

Thanks

It is normal for the trackpad to need charging more often than the keyboard. The keyboard has mechanical switches. When no key is pressed there is no power needed except for the Bluetooth circuitry. The trackpad has to continuously generate and monitor eletric fields on the top surface to detect fingers. My trackpad also needs charging twice as often as my keyboard.
