Latest reliable MacBook?

Hello everyone. I feel like IT is much harder to do with a remote team, especially during hardware failures.

I need to buy a new MacBook for a colleague but I read reports of the M1 series having screen cracking issues that feels a bit too common. Further back in MacBook history there were models with bad keyboards (butterfly version?) and the FlexGate issue.

What's the most recent MacBook model (normal / Pro / Air) that was extremely reliable? Hopefully something not too old so I can still buy it :D. Thanks!

To get to that point takes time and frankly not enough time has passed yet to determine the reliability of the M1 Macs. Like all new first generation devices there will be hiccups. That's where the term "growing pains" comes from.

Every purchase of any product carries risks. All you can do is read the reviews and consider your needs. It may seem like there are a lot of failures, but when considering the number of M1 Macs sold, reported serious problems are indeed very small.

it's a crap shoot ... you do your due diligence, make a decision and hope for the best. Precise accurate data you're asking for doesn't exist yet. And given the nature of Apple's policy on releasing such data it may never be officially available.

That's a good point. Everyone who had cracking issues definitely would've spoken out about it but in the grand scheme of things they're only a tiny-tiny fraction of the millions sold. Thx!
