In Mail on my MacBook Air M1 my individual VIP smart folders have disappeared. How can I restore them?
I see this was a problem raised in 2014-5, but I have tried the solutions proposed then with no success.

In the Mail app 
on your Mac, In the Mail sidebar: Click the Add button 
at the top of Favourites, select VIPs from the pop-up menu , then click OK.

You have at least one VIP tagged?
Is the VIP mailbox selected for view in Favorites?
Can you confirm that you have one or more email correspondents identified as VIP by the yellow star to the left of the email address on the email sent to you?
Thanks for your quick reply. I have 20 or so VIPs tagged. The problem is that I cannot find the VIP mailbox (or perhaps more correctly 'folder'?) to select it for view in Favorites.
My tagged VIPs' mail do appear all together in a single VIP mailbox on my iPad.
The following didn't work for me. No favorites to add and VIP is there but blacked out and will not load. Had this email for so long I get so much junk my VIP list is only way I can catch important messages.

Where? If it is disabled in the Favorites popup menu, then it is already select to appear in the Mailbox List. Is it disabled, but not visible in the Favorites list?
