Texts not going through with one contact

I have the iPhone 13 but this happened on the 12 also. I’m texting with someone who has a Samsung Galaxy. Suddenly he isn’t getting my texts and I am not getting his. We are both sending each other texts and neither person is getting them. We can call each other but no texts go through from either side. This happened a few weeks ago and then I got a text dump in the middle of the night of every text I missed for a week. Can someone help with this?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's our understanding that you're experiencing issues sending and receiving text messages to a specific contact on your iPhone 13. We're happy to look into this with you.

Since the issue is only occurring with one contact, we recommend that you delete the contact and the text message conversation. Then add the contact again and start a new conversation. We know text message conversations may include important content. Be sure to take screenshots and save images before deleting the conversation.
