My iPhone Xr won't allow me to adjust the Caller ID. It is currently locked off and has a spinning wheel.
I have reset the phone, reset the network connections, removed and replaced the sim, rebooted the phone and contacted Apple Support - they said the problem is a carrier issue. The carrier says it is a function of the phone. I am using the current OS 15.1. This is getting really frustrating.
Any suggestions?
Not all carriers allow users to make changes to Caller ID directly on the phone. Contact your carrier back and ask them about turning it on or off, whichever you are interested in.
OK, problem solved ... eventually. I went to settings > cellular > network selection and turned it off auto and then back on again. Curiously, Caller ID is now operational with a slide.
That is an interesting statement, since they do control it. Caller ID comes from them, and the ability to turn it on or off depends on the carrier file they provide for the iPhone. I would try force restarting the phone and then try it again. Does it start turned off or turned on? Are you trying to turn it on or off? Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
Thanks ChrisJ but the carrier said they don't offer the Caller ID feature it is provided by the device. They are saying they have no control over the issue.
I tried a forced restart. No change. It is currently turned off and I am trying to turn it on.
