My Magic Mouse suddenly stops scrolling

My Magic Mouse suddenly stops "scrolling"... the only fix is to plug it in for at least an hour then I can scroll again. Is there something wrong with my mouse?

I have been following this problem (although the Caps Lock problem is new to me (I will check it out), at this thread where many people have the same problem,

Here is my latest post to that thread,

"I had mentioned this problem with my MacBook Air M1 and Magic Mouse Model A1657 here some time ago. Specifically, the trackpad functions of the mouse stop working, while moving the cursor and clicking are fine.

I have been dealing with the problem by hovering over the bluetooth icon at the top of the screen, turning the Magic Mouse OFF, then back ON, then enabling it with the mouse from the trackpad. This seems to work every time and doesn’t take very long.

However, I now have a new development to report. Several months ago, I had a problem with the screen turning pink and then crashing. I ran the M1 diagnostics and got the following result, "There may be an issue with the trackpad. Reference Code: NDR005, NDR006." Later, I read that the anti-virus software ClamXAV might be causing the Pink Screen crash, so I disabled it. No more crashes. Later I re-installed it and after awhile got another Pink Screen crash. So now it's gone.

However, I still have the trackpad diagnostic error. I was concerned about this, so I took the MacBook Air to the Genius Bar. They ran the diagnostic and found nothing. They kept it overnight and ran a complete series of tests with no problems (by the way the Magic Mouse was home on my desk - I did not even think there was a relationship).

Tonight I ran the diagnostic again and again got the trackpad error. For the first time thinking that there was a connection to the  Magic Mouse problems, I turned the Mouse off and ran the diagnostic again with results that said, "No issues found. Reference Codes:ADP000."

I have repeated the diagnostic test several times. Magic Mouse on and connected gives trackpad errors. Magic Mouse off gives no errors.

Hopefully others are correct and Apple will fix this soon.

I'm having the same issue. Every time my MacBook Pro goes to Sleep mode then the mouse won't scroll until I eater restart the laptop or turn off/on and reconnect the Magic Mouse 2. Annoying. That's just Monterey update issue. What Apple Support did so far, they asked to reinstall the OS, check is teh issue persists for all users and in safe mode. at last they asked to go to nearest shop. Absolutely ridiculous.

I upgraded to macOS Monterey 12.1 and the problem I had with losing scroll and gesture functions with my Magic Mouse has disappeared (so far). However, if I run diagnostics with the mouse connected I still get an error message, "There may be an issue with the trackpad. Reference Code: NDR005, NDR006." There is no error if I turn the mouse off before running diagnostics. I had thought the error message was related to the loss of mouse functions, but apparently not...

Incidentally, like others I had trouble updating to 12.1 with my M1 MacBook Air. When I checked for an update, it told me I was up to date with 12.0.1. I had to boot into Recovery mode and reinstall the OS in order to get 12.1.

I have a brand new Magic Mouse. It arrived yesterday from Apple. It is 86% charged. It will suddenly stop scrolling and the right & left click features stop working. My fix is to turn it off & then back on. I am running the latest MacOS 12.2.1. But here's the thing - I had previously been using a Magic Mouse that I bought at least a year or 2 ago. That one works fine. It does not have this issue. Could this be a problem just with the later versions of the Magic Mouse? Should I return my new one to Apple?

I have the same problem which began with update to Monterey 12.0.1. I am using iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017). The Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard are fully charged; battery charge does not effect behavior. This is ridiculously annoying for me when I am using it and it brings my wife (not troubleshooting savvy) to a grinding halt. My time is valuable and this needs to be resolved.

NOTE: I have also noticed on the Keyboard that the "Caps Lock" key light does not turn on when this problem starts. "Caps Lock" will still toggle on the screen when I press the key but the light doesn't turn on. IS ANYONE ELSE SEEING THIS BEHAVIOR?

I have an M1 13" .... I have got this same problem... Diags show NDR005 & NDR006. With the MM2 disconnected I get just NDR006.

I have also noticed that the Trackpad does not work when trying to Drag and Drop but the MM2 does D&D. Problem is that if I then try to use my Mac mobile, where I don't take the MM2 with me, I can't Drag & Drop at all...

Updated to Monterey 12.1 .... No change, still get the same errors in diags.

I am going to put in a call to support later and will update with any further info.
