Watch downloaded movies on a plane

Here’s a question I’ve seen many different ways but no conclusive or useful answers. I’m on a plane right now and trying to watch downloaded movies on my iPad Pro. The problem is all I get is sound, no video. I tried unconnected to Wi-Fi and then connected to AA’s Wi-Fi without any change. Does anybody know what’s going on, I’ve read the watch a little bit of the movie before getting on the plane which is great if you know about the issue but not at all helpful if you’re on the plane. This has got to be a software issue because it happens on all kinds of platforms. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
