Why was I charged for the gift card that I received during the Black Friday promotion?

Hello,The problem I encountered while shopping was, I bought ipad and apple pencil from apple store on black friday,And got a gift card after order completion and checkout,But when I confirmed my bank account, I found that the gift card was also charged. Does anyone know why?

Because Apple’s Black Friday campaign was to buy products to give gift cards, but I was charged an extra gift card fee. There was no discount on the product and the fee was increased, which is unreasonable.

The Black Friday deal included only a gift card, not a discount and gift card. Review the terms and conditions at https://www.apple.com/shop/gifts/shopping-event/terms-conditions

There is nothing shady at all. The gift card was not a discounted price; it was a $100 gift card with purchase. Your order should not have two $100 gift cards. The gift card is part of the product, so you wouldn't get it until you get the product.

It's pretty simple. Here's the hypothetical. Remember, the promotion is only for a gift card, not a discount and a gift card.

Cost of new iPad $800. Cost assigned to iPad $700. Gift Card $100. Total amount billed to you $800. Total amount value by you $900 (Your $800 purchase plus the extra gift card). This is both for accounting purposes and for return purposes.

If you return the device only, you receive $700. Why? Because you have $100 gift card. So your return amount is $800, but you retained $100.

If you return both items, you get your $800 back.

This is typical Apple. My purchase of two MacBook Air computers during this same "promotion" resulted in the same as everyone else. Indeed my invoice shows "promotional savings" of $100 for each computer. Then below we have a separate "order" for two gift cards charged at, surprise, $100 each! So the end result is no 'savings', just I now can buy more apple products with the gift cards that I paid for. My bank account is still out the full price of the computer, but in Apples view we are getting $100 off each computer. Reeks of marketing fraud to me!!

I contacted Apple & what the agent said was totally bazaar & it makes no sense. He said that Apple provided me $250 in savings for paying the $150 in gift cards. I said no, I was charged the full retail price on the website and the total of my invoice was for the entire amount of the devices plus taxes. Even though my invoice indicates "Total Savings $125" below the invoice amount. The invoice amount did not include an additional $125 for gift card I was charged, so this is extremely deceiving. I actually paid full retail price for everything plus the $125 for the gift cards. So, saying I had ANY savings is false advertising.

You don't buy your own "gift"

the promotion was $100 off the purchase of the Mac air, I've already talked to at least 4 people at Apple support, and none of them are aware of this, the cost of the "gift card" being tacked onto the invoice. They don't understand what is going on, it doesn't show up on their computers....I had to mirror my iPhone with them to show them the invoice.

if I had known this beforehand, I would have bought the computer without the "promotion", because I wanted 16 gb ram Mac air, which you can't get at Best Buy, only direct from Apple....now I don't want the computer,

Where is my $100 I got back?

I have the invoice , it shows I got $100 off the hardware.

it also shows I purchased a $100 gift card at $8.33 for 12 mos at zero interest......which I had no idea I was purchasing, the girl at the Apple store never mentioned this.....

Believe me, this isn't legal....the transaction does not show up with the 4 Apple Support guys I have talked with, .....but it does show up on the Goldman Sachs guys computer, Goldman Sachs handles their credit.

Why would I buy a Gift Card for

myself ?

That happen to me, and can't be legal....I've talked to at least 4 people at Apple and one at Goldman Sachs.....

I'm calling back again Monday, but don't call Support line, call direct to Cupertino and press "0" for operator when given options..

the only one benefiting from the promotion is Apple, what can you buy there for exactly $100?

I see the same problem... Luckily, I purchased through Apple Card, and I'm disputing that charge while pointing out that was their issue... Clearly, the promotion was $100 OFF on the MacBook Pro 13 Plus $100 gift card, and their online payment system might F***ed up without additional lines of code...

I hope everyone catches this if you purchased NOT In-STORE.
