Time machine icon is white
does anyone know why the time machine icon in my dock goes white after a back up? I didn’t get a message that the back up was incomplete or anything like that.
MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 11.6

Thanks so much. Apologies - I should’ve said Toolbar, not Dock. Right next to the clock in the upper right hand corner. Any ideas?
Use the Command key and drag it off the Menu bar.
From >System Preferences>Time Machine you can put it back up there.
If the issue returns—file a bug report, using this same link:
https://www.apple.com/feedback/macos.html
also you can try on the fly relaunching the menubar from the Terminal.app , copy & paste:
killall -KILL SystemUIServer
use the enter key/return to proceed. Quit Terminal.

Never saw a TM icon on the Dock...your issue sounds like a glitch.
Try removing it from the Dock and see if the issue goes away.
It is called the menubar and it is perfectly normal for the icon to be white when your mac is using Dark Mode.
if you are in Light Mode then it will be black.
Which mode are you using and can you show a screenshot of what you see.
