Problems with Apple TV App on a Sony TV (KD-65XH9505)

Hello everyone!

I have been having issues with using the Apple TV app on my Sony TV. I can not play any movie or show. Mirroring from the Apple TV app on my iPhone and iPad also doesn't work.

Is there anyone who has already had this issue? Any solution or suggestion?

Thank you so much for your attention and participation.

You're welcome, Canan229.

It sounds like other content is able to stream using your Wi-Fi network connection. However, it may be a good idea to restart the network router, to confirm that doesn't solve this issue. You may need to use your router's user manual to accomplish this or reach out to your Internet provider.

With that said, it's also important that the network is set up to correctly connect with Apple's servers.

This should help out: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

You can also removing and downloading the Apple TV app on your Sony TV: Uninstalling or hiding an application

Should it persist, what happens when you playback content on your iPhone? Have you ever received this error there?

Have a good one, cheers.

Hey Canan229,

It sounds like you've still be struggling through this issue with playing Apple TV+ content on your Sony TV. The last suggestion we'd have for this would be to make sure you've also completed these steps: If you can't watch or stream movies and TV shows in the Apple TV app

If the issue continues to persist, then we'd recommend contacting Apple Support directly: Get Support

Wishing you well, take care!

Hello Canan229,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you have issues playing movies and TV Shows on the Apple TV app using your Sony TV. We'll do our best to assist with this.

To make sure we're on the same page, what happens exactly when you attempt to play and movie or TV Show within the Apple TV app?

Are you receiving an error? If so, what is that error exactly?

Screen mirroring this content from the iPhone or iPad, may not be supported. As mentioned here: Use AirPlay to stream video or mirror the screen of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch "Some video apps might not support AirPlay."

With that said, have you successfully signed in to the Apple TV app on your Sony TV? Are you able to watch content using your iPhone and iPad?

Hoping to hear back, take care.

Hello and thanks for your response.

Below, there is an image of the error that I get from the Apple TV app on my Sony TV. There is no problem with my WiFi because all other apps (such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube) work just well.

I hope this image clarifies my situation and I hope I can get to use my Apple TV subscription on my smart TV soon.

All the best

Thank you so much for all of the suggestions!

I have tried all of them, including checking any updates on my TV, reinstalling the App, restarting the router, and Wi-Fİ routing.

The problem is still there, but a lot less annoying (I can watch two 50-ish minute episodes in a row without getting the interruption (I shared the photo above). After clicking OK and then playing the episode again, I can resume and start watching (say for another hour). Long story short, I still get the same message, but at least I can watch the content. It is still irritating because I can not watch a movie without an interruption.

I checked playing Apple TV on my iPhone and iPad using the same Wi-Fi connection; there are no issues. Isn't it strange?
