Safari running Monterey will not play Airplay audio

I just got a MacBook Pro 2021. If I play SiriusXM on Safari it will play fine on the internal speakers, but if I try to move it to my external Airplay speakers it will play for about 20 seconds and then no sound at all, even if I change back to the internal speakers. If I reload the web page, it will play on the internal speakers again, but shuts down if I try to Airplay. So then I loaded Google Chrome and I can play SiriusXM via Airplay from there. It also works fine from Safari on my 2016 MacBook Pro with the exact same OS and version of Safari.

Hey StrangeBrewTatoo,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We understand you're having an audio issue while using AirPlay on your MacBook Pro. Let's help.

You've done great isolation steps. So it sounds like its just Safari on your MacBook Pro that has this issue playing audio via AirPlay. Try booting up your MacBook Pro in safe mode to test if the same issue continues: How to use safe mode on your Mac. Also, test in another user account on your MacBook Pro. You'll find that step within this article too.

Let us know if the same behavior continues in safe mode and a new user. We'll go from there.

Best regards.
