⌘⇧S (Command + Shift + S)- not working

Following a clean install of macOS Monterey I cannot use the keyboard shortcut for 'Save As…' in Microsoft Office and Apple Pages. Both use ⌘⇧S (Command + Shift + S)

All other keyboard shortcuts are still working fine.

However, it does not work. I need to click on the menu item with the mouse to make it work.

I noticed it first on Microsoft Word, and called their help desk. They kindly showed me that the problem was also there on Pages, and that makes it an Apple problem.

Anyone else got this?

Anyone got a fix?

What it sounds like is you want the OS to behave as it did for decades before Apple moved the keyboard shortcuts around starting in Lion.

a) Open the System Preferences. Click on Keyboard, then the Shortcuts tab.

b) Click on App Shortcuts in the left column, then click the + button below that.

c) This box will appear.

d) In Menu Title:, type Save As and then press Option+; to get a true ellipses. Do not type three periods.

e) Highlight the Keyboard Shortcut: field and press Command+Shift+S .

f: Click the Add button.

Close the System Preferences. Save As will now be Command+Shift+S in all apps.

Yes. I thought he was saying "Save As…" wasn't working for him using command shift S. As explained later, that's apparently not what he meant. I made a few suggestions but haven't heard back.

Yes! In safe mode, this all works fine.

In terms of EtreCheck, do I run that while still in safe mode, or shall I reboot normally and then run the app?

I though I was getting the same reaction as you but when I gave up and closed the Pages window I got this window:

which was behind the Pages window. When I used the Save button and made changes to the document and tried the Shift+Command+A combination again it worked. So it appears that the first attempt on a document we have to find that window behind the document's window and click on Save. It doesn't come to the front by itself.

I now use the Shift+Command+A combination followed by the Command+W (close window) which gives the that window. When I click on Save the document window returns. If I click on delete the window stays gone but Pages remains open.
