No "top conversations" showing in storage management for messages

I cleaned out a bunch of photos from my imessage app on my up to date iphone 13 pro max.

Now when i go into storage management for imessage it is showing 3.5 GB on the summary screen iCloud storage management, when I click into it "Top Conversations" says "Zero Kb" and if I click into that it shows no Top conversations, and i don't see any options for large attachments or whatever.

I really don't have that many converstations, and the last time that "Top Conversations" was showing stuff it was nowhere near 3.5 GB.

my local storage for messages is showing 785 MB, my iCloud is showing 3.5GB with no details about what is taking the space, I have run backup to icloud several times and restarted the phone.
