No audio on FaceTime audio/video

I have the M1 Pro 14" MBP with 32GB running Monterrey.

I have an external monitor and a sound bar that gets the audio from the HDMI off the mpb. Additionally I have a Logitech webcam that connects to the MBP via a usb-c hub.

It's happened a few times where after someone picks up my FaceTime video or audio, the audio cuts out and I'm unable to hear the other party even though they can hear me.

I have tried restarting my MPB but that did not help.

Interestingly enough, I can have a video and audio call via WhatsApp.

Seems like a bug, however I'm not sure what steps lead up to this bug showing up.

I've read other threads where this issue was persistent on another system also with an external monitor and apparently Apple engineers are aware of this. But this is persistent on the latest hardware and software (12.0.1).

If the BenQ monitor is using the same HDMI as the sound bar, try selecting that as the output.

Next does it work when booted to Safe Mode? That boot up takes minutes

I believe I figured out the workaround.

Previously I have tried selecting BenQ LCD speakers but regardless of me click on it it would not select it.

Last time when the issue happened again, I plugged in my headphones and noticed the sound coming out just found through them. I then proceeded to select BenQ LCD from the menu and voila...sound restored to my sound bar.

I was able to select MacBook Pro Speakers, and BenQ LCD as Output options from the Video drop-down menu.

Still not sure what steps lead to this bug being triggered.
