MacBook Air feels sticky to open, even though nothing has ever been spilled on it.

The title says it all -- has anyone else experienced this? Ever since opening my brand new MacBook, the hinge feels like it is physically sticky -- like there's juice or something stuck on the inside of the hinge. Especially if it has been closed for a long time.

Is this normal?

Hi ryandward,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that upon opening the lid of your MacBook Air, it feels sticky. We can help point you in the right direction.

Our recommendation is to have your MacBook Air physically inspected by a certified Apple technician. They're best equipped to determine if servicing your Mac is needed. Feel free to contact Apple Support through this link here to review your service options: Get Support

Kind regards.
