USB Microphone with iPad
Is it possible to use a USB microphone with iPad? Would the Lightning-to-USB Camera adapter work? I have a Rode-NT USB microphone and I'd like to be able to record with my iPad.

Hi jnerraw,
It sounds like you're wondering if you can use an external microphone with your iPad. We're glad you've joined us in Apple Support Communities. Let's see if this helps.
You'll want to follow the advice in the sections "Connect to other devices" and "Use an adapter" in Charge and connect with the USB-C port on your iPad. It will guide you through how to connect your iPad to another device, such as a microphone. As well as provide guidance on what adapter you might need. If you aren't sure how to identify the adapter ports, the link About the Apple USB-C to USB Adapter has a helpful photo that will show you which is which.
Additionally, if you want to Use the Audio Recorder in GarageBand for iPad, this is a helpful link once you get the microphone connected.
If you have further questions, please let us know the precise model of iPad you have and what USB type the microphone has.
We hope that helps with your question and take care!
Hi jnerraw,
Thanks for clarifying. Yes, you are correct. You might consider researching a third-party adapter that is Lightning to USB-A. While we don't have one that we can recommend at the moment, there are adapters that will work for your needs.
Happy recording!
My iPad has a Lightning connector rather than USB-C, and the microphone has a USB-A. I should have clarified that in my question, apologies. From what I can tell, there isn't a Lightning-to-USB-A adapter/cable, and the USB-C-to-USB adapter and USB-C-to-Lightning cable both have male USB-C connectors so they can't be used together. Is that correct?
