Asked to pay for Star Trek episode half-way through episode

I was watching Star Trek: Discovery, Season 1, Episode 6 when about half-way through the episode the screen went white and said the video stream was interrupted. I was streaming it through ROKU via the Apple TV app during a one-month free trial that started about a week ago. I restarted the show but now, I had to pay for the episode. I checked my settings on ROKU and my account is still on a free trial. I tried logging on an off but that didn't work. Not sure what happened. How do I resume my free watching of this series?

Star Trek: Discovery is not part of Apple TV+.

Star Trek: Discovery, Season 1 is on Paramount+ subscription, and on the iTunes Store for sale, both possible through the Apple TV app. Apple TV app Channels have a one week trial. iTunes Store TV shows are not included in any subscription or trial, only for sale by season or episode.

Subscribing through Paramount+ had a temporary special offer for 30 days free trial. That subscription isn’t valid for the Apple TV app Channels. Instead use the separate Paramount+ app.
