iPhone 12 Pro volume issues

I know how to adjust the volume in the settings. I do not have change with buttons feature turned on and I’ve checked the case. Yet the volume on my phone consistently adjusts on its own. The biggest issue with this for me is the alarm. If I don’t manually adjust the volume in the sound and haptics section in settings before going to bed the alarm is at max. So that’s an issue.

The other issue is even when I do manually adjust the volume the night before, the alarm is still very loud when it initially goes off on the morning. It’s loud until I look at the phone which then reduces the volume to the set volume in settings.

Any advice is appreciated.

Hi stewbart13,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having an issue with the volume on your iPhone 12 Pro. We're happy to provide some information to assist.

"If you're looking at your device, it will lower the volume sound of your alerts." This is expected with the Attention Aware feature enabled. We recommend checking your current settings by navigating to, Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Attention Aware Features. If needed, the article here can also help: About Attention Aware features on your iPhone X or iPad Pro

We also recommend taking a look at the section "How to change the alarm's volume" in the article here: How to set and manage alarms on your iPhone

If you're seeing the volume adjust on it's own (the overlay on the screen) be sure you're settings are correct with the help of the guide here: Change iPhone sounds and vibrations

If the issue continues, reach out to Apple Support directly to further assist.
