Macbook Pro 2019 16" Matrix Broken

Hey guys, I have had a morally devastating incident: when opening the lid, I probably hurried a little and pressed the fingernail of my thumb against the Macbook screen with a slightly bigger force. I had never imagined that such a small contact could cause its matrix to break...

What would you do in my situation? The notebook is about 16 months old, warranty expired.

Option 1:

  • Pay for an Apple authorized service to get the matrix substituted. Shoot, it costs over $1000 in my place!

Option 2:

  • Maybe there is a way to trade it in for some new Macbook Air model, if it is only the damaged matrix and the Macbook was never in the hands of any third party service? Is trading in possible in cases like this one?

Or maybe there are any other options? I am honestly shocked by the amount of pressure that sufficed for the matrix to break and also by the prices on a new matrix. It is not even a touch screen, and yet this expensiveness! However, other than that, I was quite satisfied with the way the laptop worked.

Please share your thoughts on what is a better option. Thanks!
