Connection needed mac g4 to alesis qs 6.1

I am trying to connect my Alesis qs 6.1 with an 8 pin to 8 pin cable to send date to g4 with sound bridge software. Which is what the manual states you can do with a standard 8din to 8 din cable.

My g4 only has fire wire, usb and Ethernet inputs as well as dual monitor and multi pin inputs for video and external hard drives. Is there an adapter I can use for this purpose or can I install a 8 din serial port card into the mac? If there is one?

thanks for the help

Hi,

There were USB-to-serial adapters, for example, from Keyspan. You may be able to find a suitable device through an online auction site. In this case, it would be one with a MiniDIN-8F (RS-422) port on the serial side (some adapters had two ports), in addition to a standard MiniDIN-8M to MiniDIN-8M Mac printer cable. However, also depending on the operating system version used on the G4 Mac, problems with software/drivers cannot be ruled out. Look upon this as an experiment. It may or may not work with the synthesiser in question and your computer.
