External webcam with Macbook M1

Hello, I've seen multiple forums where folks have successfully used the Mackbook M1 with an external webcam. I tried using the Logitech C270, but that only seems to work with a USB 2.0 port. M1s come with only the Thunderbolt/USB type C ports. Also, these webcams do not support external USB hubs (I tried plugging mine in, and the webcam won't power on/isn't recognized). My question is: how are folks connecting these USB 2.0 webcams to their M1 Macbooks? Thank you for your help!

Generally these use USB adapters from USB-C (3.1+) to USB2.0

And for accessories that require power, not just data; PD is key.

However the choice of any external camera is solely dependent

on the device or computer; so you may require a better camera.

These can be exotic, if so expect to pay accordingly. (see OWC?)

That's a matter for research ~ & older ones probably won't do.

Good luck & happy trails! ☃️
