I can't believe this day and age you can't recover old locked notes if you forget your password! WTH?!! Especially when I've used face ID to unlock it for the last couple years. Having this phone has made me depend on tech too much, and when simple things like this don't work, and they can't even help with you, is ridiculous. There should be a way to reset the password and have it work for ALL of your old locked notes. SMDH.

For security reasons and how encryption works, you can't recover the password.

It is up to the user to remember their passwords. It is a good idea to keep a copy of passwords in a safe place. It is not up to Apple to provide a workaround for those who do not remember their passwords! Bad people would surely find a way to use such a workaround to access accounts.
Whether you are warned or not if you can't remember your old password your screwed. There should always be some kind of way to get your old notes back. Especially with face id and finger identification, which I use. For security reasons, this should be a helpful backup option, but it's not.

What if something tragic happened and all my written down passwords were gone? yep, all my fault. Point is, there should be some kind of back up option to get into old locked notes. Questions pointed at Apple.
